Question by Proud Mama: Where can I find nice “imitation” jewelry, like wedding bands and bridal sets?

Does anyone know of any websites that I could order a bridal set that is silver and has cubic Zirconia gems?? I am going on vacation and do not want to wear my real wedding band set. I have fear that I may lose them. And that would be my luck, to lose them on vacation.

Three dipped in silver metal balls of 1 cm (0’39”) each one, with two knots.

Question by Cheese: Question about photographing sterling silver jewelry?

I am getting a glare when I take photos of my sterling silver jewelry.I am using a light box,with lamps on the sides and on the top.I set my digital camera to tungsten in the white balance setting.I also turned off the flash.ISO is set to 200.Not sure is that setting is correct.Still getting a whitish glare,especially on the attached crystals.What else can I try to get less glare?

The problem with jewelry (or anything shiny) is solved by using a light tent such as this one on eBay

There are a number on eBay, browse to select the size you need, or you can make your own out of a large cardboard box. Muslin works well as a diffuser, some types of nylon actually radiate UV when its stimulated and can cause problems.

The easiest way is with an off camera flash or two on the outside of the tent, but you can simply use a couple of anglepoise type lamps with the colour balance corrected, you can calibrate colour balance in camera (check your manual).

As for camera settings nothing special is required just Aperture Priority and select a small aperture for depth of field. Basically its just a macro shot.

If you go the anglepoise route shutter times will be long as there is not much light available so a tripod is necessary, with flash you can hand hold though even here a tripod makes life easier.

ok someone please help me…Im getting married on sept 26th and i was wrapping my bridesmaids jewelry last night and noticed the silver isnt as pretty and shiny as it was when i bought them a few months back..it sorta looks a little rusty lookin..its not THAT bad but i want them pretty and shiny again….i know i prob shouldnt of gotten them so early but i wasnt sure they were gonna be the right color and match good enuf..and i liked them so much that i didnt want them to be gone or unavailable if i waited til now to buy them..soooo anyways does anyone know how i could clean them and make em shiny again?? i dont wanna ruin them even more since there are pearls and swardowski crystals on them too…someone please help!!!! thanks!!
